On Feb 14, Tucson-via-Los Angeles singer-songwriter Emmy Wildwood shares her new single "Big John," produced by Oscar Rodriguez and Zach Jones in Brooklyn, NY. The track was written about the dark side of the music industry, she says, and "the relationships you're forced to keep" in order to keep making art.
"There's a Big John lurking in every scenario, someone who tries to use your gifts to carve out a space for themselves in the universe and how you have to protect your integrity like a precious jewel."
"Big John" follows her most recent EP, All My Blood, which arrived this January and earned support from Galore, Papermag, BUST Magazine, NYLON, Uproxx, The Line Of Best Fit, The 405, and more.
Wilwood's solo career began in 2013, after she dropped the final album with her former punk band VELTA, which included a collaboration with TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone (“Let’s Get Married”). Her debut solo effort, Mean Love, earned co-signs from Ryan Seacrest and Patricia Fields, and features in Billboard, Refinery29, Huffington Post, NewNowNext, and more. Following the release, Wildwood dropped singles “Scream,” written exclusively for FOX's “Scream Queens” soundtrack, and "Breathe Me / Lean On," an artful mash-up of Sia’s “Breathe Me” and Major Lazer’s “Lean On."
